Residue wax or foots oil is a byproduct of the solid paraffin production process, which contains a large amount of oil and fatty acids. The wax residue is obtained during the removing oil from slack wax or from derivation during the production of semi-refined paraffin. This product is found in liquid or semi-solid form in the normal temperature, depending on the percentage of oil. This substance is actually a byproduct of solid paraffin production. After degreasing from slack wax, the first solid paraffin product and its residue is foots oil product with low aromatic and sulfur percentage which will have variable viscosity depending on the type of slack wax. Foots oil (30-40%) contains oil and a percentage of fatty acids, and it is a source of based oil and free fatty acids. Foots oil is mainly used in shoe making, plastic making, polishing, chipboard industries, and generally in wood industries. This product is used in wood industries, especially chipboards, to waterproof and increase the length. In the match manufacturing industry. it is also used as an auxiliary material to improve the ignition of matches and the durability of its burning time.
